Rose hips are an ideal food supplement with versatile benefits. They have a high content of natural carotene (a precursor of vitamin A), vitamin B complex and a high vitamin C content. Tannins are also present with about 2%.
The vitamin C contained can be used as a support for those with a tendency to urinary tract problems. It acidifies the urine and makes it more resistant to bacteria. If the faeces are too solid, which can occur just as often as diarrhoea, e.g. after a change of feed, rose hips can help to make faeces easier to pass.
For easier administration, the powder can be mixed with water to form a paste and added to the feed.
