BARF food supplement - for a balanced Ca / Ph ratio

Feeding meat-rich and therefore phosphorus-rich food (e.g. barf) often results in the calcium content of the food being too low and a reduction in the calcium level in the body. 100g of meat contain on average about 40mg of calcium and 170g of phosphorus. In dog food, the calcium/phosphorus ratio should be 1.3-2 : 1, but in meat-only diets it is often only 0.2%. A ratio of 1:1 or less can have negative consequences in the long term.

If there is an undersupply of calcium, this mainly affects bone structure. The stability of the bones decreases because calcium is released from the bones to maintain the calcium level in the blood if too little is supplied through the diet. Sufficient calcium is not only important for bones, but also for tooth structure and for vital processes in the cell membranes.

FORTAN Calcium 40 bnahrungsergänzung has a high calcium content (40%).

The supplementary feeding of Calcium 40 compensates for high phosphorus contents in meat and offal feed. Phosphorus is not contained in this product, it is a pure calcium preparation. Calcium 40 is suitable for both cats and dogs.
