Dried valerian has one thing in particular in common with catnip: both are among the favourite plants of our velvet paws. As soon as lovers of valerian among the four-legged friends have sniffed the herb, they know no stopping!
They roll in it, start salivating or purr at the object of their desire. Some then run around the flat or garden as if stung by a tarantula. Others behave as if the scent had befuddled their senses - almost as if intoxicated. The reason for this behaviour lies in the fragrant components of the valerian root. These remind the furry noses of certain hormones.
The blanket also contains rustling foil. Most cats find the sound animating.
Hint:
Stay close by when you give your cat a valerian toy. This way you can intervene if the cat destroys the seams.
By the way: Although valerian is often called a "cat drug", it is not addictive!
