The dietary dry food Farmina VetLife - Struvite Management Cat Adult reduces the formation of new struvite stones. It is used for prevention in cats prone to crystal formation. Acute treatment should be with VetLife Struvite, after successful dissolution of the crystals can be switched to Struvite Management.
Struvite Management has a mild acidifying effect and thus helps to keep the pH value at an optimal level. Glycosaminoglycans strengthen the urinary tract. The glycosaminoglycan layer provides a barrier between the urine in the bladder and the deeper tissue layers of the urinary bladder. These glycosaminoglycans (GaG) bind water and thus form a layer of mucus on the surface. This makes it harder for bacteria to settle in the bladder wall, which significantly reduces the risk of infection.
An adjusted mineral content - especially of magnesium, phosphorus and calcium - ensures that struvite crystals and other crystals cannot form so easily.
The reduced protein content of the recipe with rice, oats and maize helps to reduce the urea content in the urine.
